چکیده
Airborne laser scanning sensors are impressive in their ability to collect a large number of topographic points three dimensions very short time thus providing high-resolution depiction complex objects the scanned areas. The quality any final product naturally depends on original data and methods generating it. Thus, should be evaluated before assessing its products. In this research, detailed evaluation LIDAR system is presented, quantified. This area has been under-emphasized much published work applications airborne data. done by field surveying. results address both planimetric height accuracy average discrepancy elevations from surveyed study 0.12 m. general, RMSE horizontal offsets approximately 0.50 Both relative absolute discrepancies have two components variation. first component random short-period variation while second less significant frequency biases geo-positioning system.

Improvement of Lidar Data Accuracy Using Lidar-Specific Ground Targets
With recent advances of lidar technology, the accuracy potential of lidar data has significantly improved. State-ofthe-art lidar systems can achieve 2 to 3 cm ranging accuracy under ideal conditions, which is the accuracy level required by engineering scale mapping. However, this is also the accuracy range that cannot be realized by routine navigation-based direct sensor platform orientation. F...
متن کاملAccuracy Assessment of Lidar-derived Digital Elevation Models
Despite the relatively high cost of airborne lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs), such products are usually presented without a satisfactory associated estimate of accuracy. For the most part, DEM accuracy estimates are typically provided by comparing lidar heights against a finite sample of check point coordinates from an independent source of higher accuracy, supposing a normal dist...
متن کاملAssessment of Lidar Dtm Accuracy in Coastal Vegetated Areas
Digital terrain models (DTM’s) are widely used in coastal engineering. Reliable height information is necessary for different purposes such as calculating flood risk scenarios, change detection of morphological objects and hydrographic numeric modelling. In this specific field light detection and ranging (lidar) replaces step by step other methods such as terrestrial surveying. However, some ne...
متن کاملAccuracy Assessment of Lidar-derived Dem Based on Approximation Theory
To assess the vertical accuracy of LiDAR-derived grid DEM, existing methods are mainly based on statistics such as RMSE, variance, or 95th percentile. However, statistical methods are not effective unless a large number of checkpoints are used because error in LiDAR-derived DEM is not random error, not from a normal distribution, not identically distributed, and not from a stationary process. S...
متن کاملAccuracy Assessment of Timber Volume Maps Using Forest Inventory Data and LiDAR Canopy Height Models
Maps of standing timber volume provide valuable decision support for forest managers and have therefore been the subject of recent studies. For map production, field observations are commonly combined with area-wide remote sensing data in order to formulate prediction models, which are then applied over the entire inventory area. The accuracy of such maps has frequently been described by parame...
